Turkish official condemns attack on Azerbaijani journalists in France
Turkish Presidential Administration's Communications Department Head Fahrettin Altun condemned the attack on the employees of AzTV in France.
"We strongly condemn this insidious attack on media and information freedom, which shows that Europe is losing its reputation day by day in the context of protecting human rights and freedoms,” the official wrote on Twitter, Report informs.
Besides, he expressed the expectation for French officials and law enforcement authorities to immediately identify and prosecute those responsible for the attack.
“In my conversation with Azerbaijani presidential aide Hikmat Hajiyev, I noted that Türkiye will use all opportunities to shed light on this cowardly attack.
I wish a speedy recovery to our Azerbaijani brothers, the journalists who suffered as a result of the attack, and extend my best wishes to all the brotherly people of Azerbaijan," the tweet reads.
Employees of Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting CJSC were attacked while filming in France. As a result, the reporter and cameraman were slightly injured, and the camera was taken away and damaged. When AzTV employees demanded the return of the camera, they were threatened with gunfire.
Earlier, protests erupted in France following the killing of a 17-year-old dark-skinned teenager who disobeyed an order from the traffic police in the Paris suburb of Nanterre in the Ile-de-France province.
