Turkish submarines prepare to launch ATMACA cruise missile VIDEO
Turkish defence company Roketsan is preparing to launch ATMACA anti-ship cruise missile from a submarine.
The company's CEO Murat made important statements regarding the ATMACA anti-ship missile, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Twitter page of SavunmaSanayiST.com.
"In fact, ATMACA itself is not a single missile. ATMACA is a platform that will form the basis for other cruise missiles. It is currently being used by the Turkish Navy as an anti-ship missile and there is very strong export demand for ATMACA, especially in the Asia-Pacific region,” Ikinci said.
According to him, the design stages of the capsule-launched version of ATMACA for submarines are nearing completion. Tests will begin this year. They will provide the capability to fire anti-ship cruise missiles from submarines belonging to the Turkish Armed Forces.
Developed by Roketsan, ATMACA is Türkiye’s first national anti-ship missile. The ATMACA missile, which has a maximum range of 250+ kilometres, has an active radar seeker (homing head).
ATMACA is equipped with a three-dimensional flight path planning system that allows it to circle geographical obstacles, including islands. In addition, the ATMACA system allows multiple cruise missiles to reach their targets simultaneously.
The cruise missile, once launched, flies up to five metres above the surface of the water, but can also drop down to three metres.
