Türkiye to present Kapgan unmanned ground vehicle PHOTO/VIDEO
The Turkish defence company HAVELSAN will present an unmanned heavy-duty military vehicle Kapgan.
HAVELSAN engineers have been working on the development of unmanned land, air and sea vehicles in line with the concept of "digital oneness" for some time now, Caliber.Az quotes the Turkish National Defence Ministry as saying on Twitter.
Kapgan will be on display for the first time at SAHA EXPO Defence & Aerospace, which is being organised by the Defence Aerospace Cluster SAHA İstanbul on October 25-28 in Istanbul.
The unmanned heavy-duty military vehicle was named in honour of the Khagan of the Turkic Khaganate "Kapagan Khagan" (or Qapaghan Qaghan), which means "the conqueror".
The machine is distinguished by its weapon system with 30x113 mm charges, the ministry tweets.
The gun has excellent armour-piercing properties against air and ground targets and will provide effective deterrence at a distance of up to 2,000 metres.
Weapon systems of different types and calibres can be integrated into Kapgan.
With a highly manoeuvrable wheel design, Kapgan will have superior operational capability in all weather, terrain and visibility conditions.
According to the ministry, Kapgan is also designed to provide day/night vision and operation with a 5 km data link for military tactical networks, GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) and satellite communications infrastructure, a 4 m adjustable perimeter mast and high-tech sensor systems.
Thanks to the built-in wired or wireless drone in the vehicle, it can also be used as a relay in cases where the range is insufficient.
With an effective solution against asymmetric threats, automatic target tracking and high mobility, Kapgan will provide the support needed for operations in residential areas, and successfully complete reconnaissance, surveillance and patrol missions.
Ergonomic and modular ground command and control stations Kapgan are set to increase the offensive capabilities of the Turkish security forces.
The unmanned ground vehicle of a heavy class has a mass of 1,400 kg and a payload of 600 kg.
Kapgan develops speed up to 25 kilometres per hour and can work continuously for 6 hours.
The electric car performs such operations as overcoming obstacles with a height of 0.5 metres and overcoming a trench up to 1.2 metres wide.
