Uzbek president condemns attempted attack on Putin residence
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has condemned the attempted attack on the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Novgorod region during a phone call with Putin on December 30.
Mirziyoyev opened the conversation by strongly denouncing the reported attempt, stressing that such acts pose a threat to stability and security, including efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace, Caliber.Az reports via the press service of the Uzbek president.
The two leaders also discussed further development of Uzbek-Russian relations based on strategic partnership and alliance, focusing on the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level.
They exchanged views on key international and regional issues and reviewed the schedule of upcoming engagements.
At the conclusion of the call, Mirziyoyev and Putin congratulated each other on the upcoming New Year 2026, wishing one another good health, happiness, and well-being, and expressing hopes for peace and continued prosperity for the brotherly peoples of both countries.
On December 29, 2025, Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, claimed that Ukrainian forces had launched a large-scale drone strike against President Vladimir Putin’s state residence in the Novgorod region
He said Russian air defences shot down 91 incoming drones and warned that such reckless actions will not go unanswered.
