Uzbekistan sends over 100 tons of humanitarian aid to Türkiye

The Turkish embassy in Tashkent has said that Uzbekistan had sent 170 tons of humanitarian aid to the Turkish provinces affected by devastating earthquakes.

A humanitarian campaign, initiated upon the coordination of the Turkish embassy in cooperation with the Youth is Our Future Foundation at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, the Uzbekistan and Türkiye Business People Association, the Foreign Economic Relations Board, the Türkiye-Uzbekistan Business Council, Uzbek branch of the Independent Industrialists, and Businessmen’s Association (MUSIAD), as well as civil society, is underway in Uzbekistan, according to Anadolu.

Some 170 tons of humanitarian aid, including 45 tons of medicines and medical supplies, eight tons of food, 90 tons of clothes, shoes, blankets, sleeping bags, baby diapers and hygiene products, 130 generators, 700 electric heaters and other necessary items, have been collected throughout Uzbekistan and sent to Türkiye.

The humanitarian cargo was delivered to various Turkish districts via six cargo planes and seven trucks.

Moreover, money is also collected for quake victims.

Uzbek chefs are delivering two meals a day for 5,000 people in the districts affected by the earthquake.

Volunteers of the Uzbek Culture, Research and Solidarity Association (Istanbul) and a search and rescue team consisting of 100 people from Uzbekistan are in the disaster zone.

Some 71 Uzbek doctors render medical assistance to the earthquake survivors in field hospitals.
