Western Azerbaijan Community condemns Armenia’s efforts to justify war crimes
The Western Azerbaijan Community has called on Armenia to cease its destructive actions, which they argue are obstructing justice and promoting impunity for war crimes committed against Azerbaijanis.
The statement, issued by the Community, follows ongoing trials in Azerbaijan of individuals suspected of war crimes and crimes against humanity, particularly in relation to the ethnic cleansing and mass killings of Azerbaijanis, Caliber.Az reports.
The Western Azerbaijan Community emphasized that Armenia, instead of supporting the judicial process, is actively attempting to justify the crimes committed during the conflict, thereby encouraging impunity. The group also expressed concern about the involvement of some European parliaments, international organizations, and political figures who, alongside Yerevan, are working to hinder the pursuit of justice.
"We, Western Azerbaijanis, who suffered ethnic cleansing and are unable to return to our homes, strongly condemn Yerevan's attempts to justify these crimes and cast a shadow on the judicial system of Azerbaijan. We demand that Armenia and its patrons stop these destructive actions," the statement from the Western Azerbaijan Community read.
