Yerevan, Baku swapping proposals for peace deal for sixth time – Armenian FM
Armenia and Azerbaijan are exchanging proposals for a peace treaty for the sixth time.
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan told a joint meeting of standing parliamentary commissions during the discussion of the draft state budget for 2024 on November 3, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“Yerevan’s course towards implementing the peace agenda is continuing,” Mirzoyan added, recalling that the first principle of this agreement concerns the mutual recognition of territorial integrity by the parties. Armenia wants to ensure maximum specificity in this matter.
The second principle of the treaty is related to the delimitation and demarcation of the borders of the two countries. The third principle is related to the unblocking of regional communications.
Mirzoyan reiterated that Armenia does not oppose the unblocking of communications and considers itself one of the main beneficiaries.
“So, Yerevan’s approach remains unchanged: all communications must operate under the jurisdiction of the countries through whose territory they pass, on the basis of equality and reciprocity,” the minister emphasized.
