Baku sends note to Iran over whereabouts of Azerbaijani student
Iran was handed a note in connection with the disappearance of an Azerbaijani citizen in that country.
Report informs that the head of the Foreign Ministry's Spokesperson Aykhan Hajizade said on March 9, 2023, the ministry received an appeal regarding information that a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a student at the University of Jena in Germany, Farid Safarli, born in 1997, went to the Islamic Republic of Iran on February 20, but from March 4 there was no news about him.
“In order to clarify this information, the Foreign Ministry sent a note to the Iranian embassy in our country and is currently waiting for a response from the other side. Relevant activities and investigations are ongoing to determine the location of Azerbaijani citizen Farid Safarli. The public will be provided with additional information on this matter," Hajizade told reporters on March 9.
He recalled that after the terrorist attack on the embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran on January 27, 2023, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan issued a warning to the citizens of our country that they are not recommended to visit the Islamic Republic of Iran unnecessarily, and those who do visit this country needs to be extra careful.
