A voice from oblivion Samvel Shahramanyan’s latest nonsense
Today—on the second anniversary of the brilliant one-day counterterrorist operation carried out by the Azerbaijani army, which resulted in Azerbaijan fully restoring its territorial integrity and sovereignty—a certain “president” of the so-called “NKR,” Samvel Shahramanyan, crawled out from his little spider-filled corner of the past.
In his latest opus, delivered in Yerablur, the relic of separatism proclaimed, among other things: “The people of Artsakh paid the highest price so that today the Republic of Armenia could exist.”
Frankly, it is difficult to say through what twisted corridors of logic Shahramanyan wandered before producing such an absurd statement. According to his own claim, the liquidation of the “Artsakh” project was almost a voluntary self-sacrifice for the sake of Armenia’s existence.
We believe that he, so proudly calling himself “president,” would do well to turn his attention to the former leaders of the Karabakh junta—Araik Arutyunyan, Bako Sahakyan, Arkadiy Ghukasyan, and others—who are now under arrest in Baku and fully understand the value of the saying that silence is golden, and not only silence. The fact that Samvel Shahramanyan is not among them is an unfortunate coincidence. However, it seems likely that sooner or later, time will put everything in its proper place.
In making his claims, Samvel clearly veered far off course—and did so thoroughly. Moreover, we believe his words were offensive to the citizens of Armenia, who vividly remember that the reality was entirely the opposite.
No one has forgotten the shameful chapters of Armenian history, namely the period when the country was led by the Karabakh junta leaders Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan, who dragged Armenia into a state of permanent economic, political, and demographic crisis, while instilling in the Armenian people the myth of the “invincibility” of the Armenian army.
Instead of building a proper state and developing the economy, the elites in Yerevan spent decades feeding Armenians illusions about an “independent Artsakh.” Meanwhile, the Karabakh junta, living off the funds of the Armenian diaspora, grew fat and powerful during this time.
But, as the saying goes, the music did not play for long—the outcome was inevitable: as a result of Azerbaijan’s victory in the Second Karabakh War in the autumn of 2020 and the one-day counterterrorist operation in September 2023, the occupiers were expelled from Azerbaijani lands, the centre of separatism was eliminated, and Azerbaijan fully restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
This is the reality today, created by Azerbaijan. And no Samvel Shahramanyans can distort it with their foolish, cynical, and absurd statements.
