ADB raises Georgia growth forecast to 5.5% for 2026
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has revised upward its economic growth forecast for the Georgia, projecting GDP expansion of 5.5% in 2026, up from an earlier estimate of 5%, according to a report cited by Georgian media.
The revision reflects stronger-than-expected performance in early 2026, with real economic growth reaching 8.8% in February and averaging 8.4% over January–February, Caliber.Az reports via Georgian media.
However, the ADB expects growth to moderate from 7.5% in 2025 to 5.5% in 2026 and 5.2% in 2027, citing global risks including high energy prices and supply chain disruptions linked to ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
Sectoral forecasts show services remaining the main driver of growth, though its expansion is projected to slow from 10.8% in 2025 to 7.5% in 2026 and 6.8% in 2027. Industrial output is expected to grow by 2.4% in 2026 before easing to 2% in 2027, while agriculture—after a 6.1% contraction in 2025—is forecast to recover gradually, reaching 1.7% growth by 2027.
The ADB also projects inflation at 3.8% in 2026 and 3.3% in 2027, alongside an improvement in external stability, with the current account deficit expected to narrow to below 3% of GDP, its lowest level in years.
