Aghdam Industrial Park supplies key materials for restoration of Azerbaijan’s liberated lands
Building materials produced in the Aghdam Industrial Park have begun to play a vital role in the restoration of Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.
This information comes from the Agency for the Development of Economic Zones, which oversees the industrial park, Caliber.Az reports.
The agency noted that roofing materials, wallpapers, construction blocks, iron and metal doors, blinds, railings, partitions, metal mesh, and other products are being utilised in the construction and rehabilitation of villages in the Aghdam, Jabrayil, Lachin, and Kalbajar regions.
The Aghdam Industrial Park has granted resident status to 28 companies, with a total investment of 260 million manats. Additionally, four entrepreneurs have received non-resident status. Currently, nine enterprises are operational within the park, creating more than 370 permanent jobs.
Thus, the Aghdam Industrial Park, located in Karabakh marking a significant step in the region's reconstruction and economic revitalisation. Elshad Nuriyev, Chairman of the Economic Zones Development Agency, announced that five licensed enterprises at the park will begin production, focusing on concrete construction products and various construction materials.
Since its inception in 2021, Azerbaijan has invested approximately $7 million into the phased development of the Aghdam Industrial Park. Currently, 19 resident enterprises and 6 non-resident entities are registered, with total direct investments projected to reach $103 million. This initiative is expected to create over 1,600 permanent jobs, enhancing local employment prospects significantly.
The collective product portfolio of the park encompasses a diverse range of goods, including carpets, steel-concrete materials, renewable energy products, and textiles, thereby broadening the country's manufacturing capabilities. The establishment of the Aghdam Industrial Park is part of Azerbaijan's broader reconstruction efforts following the 44-day conflict with Armenia, aimed at restoring the region and welcoming back its former residents.
Additionally, Azerbaijan is home to five industrial zones that aim to stimulate growth in the non-oil sector and promote innovative production methods. The Aghdam Industrial Park spans 190 hectares (470 acres) and includes a variety of sectors such as food production and light industry.
With total investments in Azerbaijan's industrial parks reaching $3.7 billion, these developments signify a robust commitment to enhancing production and export capacities, contributing to the nation’s economic development and stability since the launch of its first industrial park in 2011.
