Another briber revealed in Armenian conscription department
A senior specialist of the Ararat conscription department of the Armenian Defenсe Ministry has received a bribe for forging a military service exemption document.
A.T., a senior specialist in the Conscription and Mobilisation Service’s conscription department of Ararat district, demanded and received large bribes in March-April 2023, Caliber.Az reports per the Armenian media.
In particular, during the criminal proceedings it was revealed that in March 2023, the father of the conscript met A.T.'s acquaintance and asked the latter to organise the release of his son from compulsory military service.
In this vein, A.T. and his acquaintance agreed to exempt the conscript from compulsory military service in exchange for $10,000 (A.T. promised to give his close friend $2,000).
In another case, A.T., through the same acquaintance, received a bribe of 120 thousand drams ($312) from two residents of the Ararat district to exempt them from the next military training camp in 2023.
In addition, on April 17, 2023, A.T. called a resident of the Ararat district, to inform him that the territorial conscription department would send him an appeal to attend military training. At the same time, the senior specialist hinted that it could be avoided if the resident organised a reception for 5 people in the restaurant owned by him. The latter agreed to this proposal.
On September 4, 2023, on the initiative of the supervising prosecutor, public criminal prosecution was initiated against A.T. under a number of articles of the Armenian Criminal Code.
