“Armenian PM decides to abandon Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region” Armenian political analyst's hysteria
Armenian political analyst Ara Papyan has said that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s statements mean that he has already decided to surrender the Karabakh region.
“Pashinyan is doing what he should do. He says that if ex-presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Robert Kocharyan were in his place, they would have done the same. Proceeding from Pashinyan’s statements that the alternative to refusing to surrender Karabakh is Armenia’s decay, he decided to surrender Karabakh. The rest are details,” Papyan said in an interview with Armenia’s Lragir.am, according to Caliber.Az.
The political analyst said that there is only one alternative - the development of relations with the West.
“Russia has betrayed us and continues betraying us, Iran and China lack the political will, military and economic capabilities to support Armenia. Armenia can only be supported by the West, led by the US,” Papyan said.
He also touched upon Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s statement in Yerevan that a simplified regime will be used on the roads which are being opened in Armenia.
“As far as I understand, the matter rests in a simplified regime, when goods are not subject to customs and other procedures. This is called a corridor in which there will be no Armenia’s sovereignty. If there is no customs, passport, or other control, this will mean that we are transferring these territories to Russia because the control will be carried out by the Russian Federal Security Service, that’s these territories will be subject to the Russian-Turkish jurisdiction,” he said.
“Türkiye is also in confrontation with the West. The Russian Federation and Türkiye should have a geopolitical, land, as Lavrov says, simplified regime. This is done for them, while Azerbaijan takes advantage of the Russian-Turkish rapprochement. All this was launched by Russia. They do not even promise an equivalent path for Armenia, even for the sake of formality. They cannot make such a statement about the Azerbaijani territory,” Papyan said.
