Azerbaijan-EU relations highlighted at conference in Madrid
A conference focusing on the evolving relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union was held in Madrid, the Spanish capital, attracting key discussions on regional geopolitics and cooperation.
The event, organized by Azerbaijan’s Centre for Analysis of International Relations (AIR Centre) in collaboration with Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid and supported by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Spain, provided a platform for dialogue on important bilateral and regional issues, Caliber.Az reports.
During the conference, Vasif Huseynov, a representative of AIR Centre, addressed the historical context of the current geopolitical landscape in the South Caucasus and the ongoing Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process. He stressed the detrimental effects of third-party interference in regional matters, underlining the significance of the cooperation opportunities that have arisen since the conclusion of the Second Karabakh War.
Shahmar Hajiyev, Senior Specialist at the AIR Centre, delivered a detailed presentation on Azerbaijan's economic growth, energy strategies, and its ambitious green transition agenda. Hajiyev emphasized Azerbaijan’s ongoing efforts to diversify its economy and transition towards more sustainable energy solutions, underscoring the significance of these initiatives for both Azerbaijan and its European partners.
The conference highlighted the potential for enhanced cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU, particularly in areas such as energy, economic development, and environmental sustainability. As both regions continue to navigate evolving geopolitical challenges, such dialogues are crucial for building stronger, mutually beneficial relationships.
