China praises Azerbaijan’s support for citizens evacuated from Iran
An article published on the website of the Chinese news agency Xinhua News Agency highlights Azerbaijan’s assistance in safely accommodating Chinese citizens evacuated from Iran.
The article describes the organisation of the entry of Chinese nationals evacuated from Iran into Azerbaijan, their accommodation in a hotel in the capital, and the provision of necessary support and conditions.
It reported that on Tuesday, March 3, at around 5:00 p.m. local time, 48 Chinese citizens were accommodated at the Caspian Business Hotel. They are part of an evacuation operation organised by the Chinese embassy aimed at ensuring the safety of more than 260 Chinese nationals who have crossed the border into Azerbaijan in recent days.
China’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, Lu Mei, welcomed the evacuees and said they would receive assistance to ensure their safe return to China.
The article emphasised that the Azerbaijani government provided significant support to facilitate the entry of Chinese citizens into the country. At the Astara border checkpoint, embassy staff and volunteers assisted the evacuees with hotel reservations, currency exchange, flight planning, and interpretation services.
It also noted that Baku served as the first stop on their journey back to China, and that the embassy would continue coordinating their safe and smooth return.
