CIS Foreign Ministers' Council meeting kicks off in Bishkek
A meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Council of Foreign Ministers has started in Bishkek, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said on October 12.
"A regular meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers chaired by Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev began in Bishkek on October 12," Interfax quotes the ministry as saying.
According to the press service, during the meeting, the foreign ministers of the CIS member states will exchange views on the international agenda and cooperation in the Commonwealth format, as well as consider draft decisions to be submitted to the meetings of the Council of Heads of Government and the CIS Council of Heads of State.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has already arrived in Bishkek on an official visit.
The Russian leader will take part in the CIS summit in the Kyrgyz capital, which will be held on October 13.
In addition, on October 12, Vladimir Putin will hold talks with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov at the state residence "Ala-Archa". It is planned that the leaders will sign intergovernmental agreements.
The leaders of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will also attend the CIS summit. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said earlier that he would miss the event "due to a number of circumstances".
