Georgia to build battery recycling plant
The battery recycling plant will be built in the city of Rustavi (Kvemo Kartli region), said Solomon Pavliashvili, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.
Currently, there are several points of reception of old batteries in Georgia, but their recycling is carried out in third countries, Caliber.Az report, citing foreign media.
Pavliashvili said the project of construction of the plant will be implemented by Reksol LLC with the support of the Ministry and the state programme "Produce in Georgia".
"Reksol is actively cooperating with banks, as a result of which about 30 million Georgian lari of investments will be invested in this project and up to 50 people will be employed. The creation of infrastructure is planned on the territory of Rustavi and will occupy about 4.5 hectares," Pavliashvili told Kommersant Radio.
The plant will have a capacity of 12,000 tonnes per year, which will fully cover Georgia's needs. The first phase of the project will be completed in a year, and the plant will be fully operational 18 months after the ratification of the contract.
In addition, the enterprise will also be engaged in tyre processing. For this purpose, it is planned to purchase equipment in Türkiye.
