ASELSAN, which plays an active role in efforts to build Türkiye’s air defense in depth with domestic and national resources coordinated by the Defense Industries Directorate, will present examples of the capabilities it has recently developed in this context at IDEF 2023.
The system provided an effective solution to point air defense against current threats through the use of the GÖKDOĞAN missile, developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE and upgraded per the needs of air defense. The GÖKDOĞAN air-to-air missile, which has a range of more than 70 kilometers, will have an effective range of 30-35 kilometers when launched from the ground through the GÖKDEMIR system.
The GÖKDEMIR air defense system will perform air and missile defense tasks. Protect against threats such as warplanes, attack/reconnaissance drones, cruise missiles, air-to-ground missiles, and helicopters.
The GÖKDEMIR missile launch system, with the help of a fire control device (HİSAR A +) or a fire control center HİSAR (HİSAR O +), will intercept the target on command from above.
The first fire tests of the GÖKDEMIR air defense system were carried out in the second half of 2022.
GÖKDEMIR anti-aircraft missile has a very short period of preparation and deployment. The complex has features such as the ability to destroy threats in 360 degrees with a rotating turret design, multiple activation, and sequential firing, targeting at an intermediate stage with a data link, a missile loading platform and a crane system, a multi-purpose container, and wire/wireless communication.
Each GÖKDEMIR air defense system is capable of launching 8 to 12 GÖKDOĞAN missiles.
Earlier, it was reported that ASELSAN plans to implement the GÖKDEMİR air defense system similar to the Norwegian NASAMS air defense system.
