Kalkan-27: Türkiye's comprehensive crackdown on illegal migration
The Kalkan-27 operation has been successfully conducted across 27 provinces in Türkiye, focusing on the identification of illegal immigrants and tackling the organizers behind migrant smuggling.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya provided an update on the operation, Caliber.Az reports.

He revealed that over the past four days, authorities have detained a total of 1,029 illegal immigrants and apprehended 84 individuals suspected of organizing migrant smuggling activities.
The minister elaborated that among those detained, 25 suspected migrant smuggling organizers have been formally arrested, while judicial control measures have been imposed on an additional seven individuals. Ongoing judicial proceedings are in place for the remaining suspects as authorities continue their investigations into the broader network involved in these illicit activities.
The Kalkan-27 operation underscores Türkiye's strategic approach to addressing illegal migration, emphasizing the need for robust measures to dismantle smuggling networks and protect vulnerable individuals seeking safe passage.
