Karabakh's ecosystem recovering through large-scale projects - chairperson
Chairperson of Azerbaijan’s State Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs Bahar Muradova has said that the ecosystem of the Karabakh region is gradually recovering as a result of large-scale projects.
She made the remarks at the opening of the conference "Women in the Islamic World: Traditions and Challenges" held in the city of Shusha, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The Committee’s chairperson noted that the long-term occupation by Armenia jeopardised the ecological environment of Karabakh and East Zangezur.
"The plundering of the region, the destruction of flora and fauna on these lands has had a great negative impact on the ecological situation of the entire Caucasus. Within the framework of the implementation of the Big Return programme, until today about 8,000 former IDPs have returned to the towns of Lachin, Fizuli, Shusha, Khojaly and four villages," Muradova said.
