Majority of CSTO members stand with Baku, says pro-Armenian expert
Editor-in-Chief of the Russian Regnum news agency, pro-Armenian political scientist Modest Kolerov, has said that the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) would not support Armenia.
“There is no point in making the Kremlin jealous of Baku. It will not defend Armenia for the sake of the Armenians,” the political scientist said, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
Kolerov recalled that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had already turned to the Russian Federation with a request for assistance in ensuring Armenia’s territorial integrity.
“For this statement to have an evidence base, we need a normal border with Azerbaijan with the presence of the Russian army there. At the moment we don’t have this and, I think, will not have it for a long time,” he said.
Kolerov added that the CSTO will not support Armenia, since decisions in the organization are made by consensus, and the majority of its members are on the side of Baku.
