Novruz celebrated by millions of people that are not Persian speakers – US professor
Brenda Shaffer, professor at the Center for Eurasian, Russian, and East European Studies at Georgetown University, has made a post on her X account in response to congratulations from US Vice President Kamala Haris on the occasion of Novruz.
The majority of the celebrants of #Novruz are not #Persian speakers, yet the @WhiteHouse refers to the Persian words related to the holiday and shows the Persian book Shahname, a classic Persian book which praises the Persian conquests of Arabs and Turks. Why is this a message… https://t.co/kkPh1MO9fB

“The majority of the celebrants of Novruz are not Persian speakers, yet the White House refers to the Persian words related to the holiday and shows the Persian book Shahname, a classic Persian book which praises the Persian conquests of Arabs and Turks. Why is this a message promoted by the White House?” Shaffer posted, Caliber.Az reports.
Actually, VP, Novruz is celebrated by millions of people that are not Persian speakers. In fact, the majority of the observers of the holiday are not speakers of Persian. Some examples of greetings in other languages:
In Azerbaijani - “Novruz bayramınız mübarək olsun!”, in Kazakh – “Наурыз Мейрамы Құтты Болсын!”, in Turkish “Nevruz Bayramınız Kutlu Olsun!”, in Uzbek “Navro'z bayramingiz muborak bo'lsin!” the post by professor notes.
