Paid tears of Armenian propaganda clients Another wave of lies
On the day of the all-Armenian mourning for the mythical "genocide" in the Ottoman Empire, former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi published a post on her X microblog. She stated that she was honouring the memory of those whom Armenians claim as victims of the "genocide" and recalled her visit to Armenia in 2022, when she had "the solemn honour" of visiting the Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex.
Indeed, in September 2022, Pelosi made a trip to Armenia that cost Armenian taxpayers $120 million, $50 million of which was a one-time contribution to the U.S. Democratic Party. Her visit to the memorial complex and her tears in front of the Armenian audience were part of this generously funded trip to Yerevan.
Naturally, Pelosi did not mention the financial side of her trip. But a question arises — is she the only “grandmother on call” for the global Armenian community?
This question is far from rhetorical. In recent days, as part of their “required programme,” politicians from various countries have spoken out on the favourite topic of the Armenian lobby.
Among them was Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly — the same one who, in October 2023, visited Jermuk (Istisu) and the so-called “combat positions,” as labelled by the Armenian media. That alone speaks to the provocative nature of the visit.
At the time, Joly met with Armenians who had been illegally residing for decades on the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. She then issued unfounded accusations against Baku and even threatened sanctions.
This was a deliberate move aimed at fuelling tensions between peoples who had been granted a rare historical opportunity for peace, cooperation, and prosperity.
During Justin Trudeau’s premiership, we have repeatedly witnessed such provocations — and that trend continues to this day. Mélanie Joly resorted to a banal and crude lie about “the profound resilience of the 120,000 Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh who were forcibly displaced from their lands in 2023.”
Canadian Prime Minister and leader of the Liberal Party, Mark Carney, also made false claims, alleging that “Armenian people continue to face persecution and oppression,” and that this “tragically exemplified by the forced displacement of over 120,000 indigenous Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh in September 2023.”
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Aykhan Hajizada has already responded to Joly’s false statements. He recalled that Azerbaijan’s counter-terrorism measures in 2023 were a lawful and proportionate response to provocations by Armenia’s illegal armed formations on Azerbaijani territory. Hajizada stressed that the operation, which lasted less than 24 hours, was aimed solely at neutralising illegal Armenian armed groups and their infrastructure, in full accordance with international humanitarian law. No strikes were carried out against civilians or civil infrastructure, and the departure of residents was a voluntary decision.
Azerbaijan is prepared to substantiate all these facts with photographic, video, and other evidence. The very fact of the illegal presence of Armenians on occupied Azerbaijani territories speaks for itself. Nevertheless, the Canadian Foreign Minister continues to refer to these lands as “Armenian,” casting serious doubt on her objectivity and judgement.
Even Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has recognised the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, including the Karabakh economic region and the enclaves.
Recently, during a phone conversation with Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov recalled that following the counter-terrorism measures in Karabakh, Baku allowed more than 10,000 members of Armenia’s illegal armed formations to leave the country. This stands as a clear example of official Baku’s humanitarian approach — and marks a fundamental difference from the actions of the Armenian side.
There is ample evidence showing how Armenian militants expelled Azerbaijanis from their homes during the First Karabakh War. Yet both the Canadian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister prefer to remain silent on this, choosing instead to issue provocative and false statements — effectively doing Armenian propaganda a disservice.
When one sees how crude the lies about “violations of the rights of Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh” are, it becomes equally clear how fabricated the claims of a so-called “Armenian genocide” truly are.
The only question that remains is: what motives drive Canada’s Foreign Minister and Prime Minister? And it would hardly be surprising to discover that their motivations are not unlike those behind Nancy Pelosi’s theatrically convenient role as a “champion of the Armenians.”
