Russia accuses Armenia of shifting blame for strategic failures
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has criticized Armenia for attempting to blame Russia for its own strategic errors and missteps in the implementation of trilateral agreements.
At a press briefing, Zakharova responded to Armenia's reaction to a recent statement by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov regarding the trilateral agreements, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
She accused Yerevan of deflecting responsibility for its failures by targeting Russia. “This reaction from the Armenian Foreign Ministry is yet another example of official Yerevan’s pattern of blaming others, specifically Russia, for its own mistakes and strategic miscalculations,” Zakharova said.
The foreign ministry official alleged that Armenia's actions, which it described as undermining the trilateral agreements, align with Western interests. She claimed that Armenia’s stance is preventing the establishment of beneficial transport links and hindering regional normalization efforts.
“We urge Yerevan not to let Western interests sabotage years of efforts to achieve sustainable peace in the Transcaucasus,” Zakharova added.
She emphasized that there is a Western agenda aimed at pushing Russia out of the South Caucasus and creating divisions between Russia and its regional partners.
