Russia declares emergency regime in Tuva after thermal power plant accident
In response to a recent incident at the Shagonar thermal power plant, Russia’s Tuva has entered a state of emergency.
Vladislav Khovalyg, the head of the republic, confirmed the declaration of an emergency regime of regional significance, as reported by TASS.
The accident, which occurred in the heat supply compartment of the Shagonar CHPP, prompted authorities to take swift action. While the precise causes of the incident are still under investigation, Khovalyg assured that there have been no reported fatalities. However, the disruption in the heat supply has affected a significant number of residents.
"At the operational headquarters made a decision to introduce in Tuva the emergency regime of regional significance. According to preliminary data, the emergency in the Shagonar CHPP occurred in the heat supply compartment, which is separate from the boiler house. The exact causes are being established. There are no fatalities," - wrote the head of the republic.
According to him, centralized heat supply has been suspended in 62 apartment buildings and 216 private houses, impacting approximately 4,000 individuals in Shagonar. Efforts are underway to restore services and ensure the well-being of those affected.
Khovalyg emphasized that there were no missing persons as a result of the explosion, with the entire shift personnel being fully accounted for.
"All the injured are being transported to republican hospitals, including those who have been determined for outpatient treatment. Seriously injured patients are transported by air ambulance," he said.
