Russia's Air Force shoots down 48 Ukrainian drones over several regions
Starting at 8:00 p.m. (Moscow time) on May 28, the Russian Air Forces intercepted and destroyed 48 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones, according to a statement issued by the Russian Ministry of Defence.
The majority of the drones — 30 in total — were shot down over the Belgorod region, which has been a frequent target of cross-border attacks in recent months, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Russian Defence Ministry.
In addition, four drones were downed by the Russian air defence systems over both the Oryol and Ryazan regions, three over the Moscow region, two over Bryansk, and one over the Tambov region.
The Ministry didn't report any casualties or damage resulting from the attempted drone incursions. Ukrainian officials have not commented on the Russian claims.
To recall, in a similar incident, Russian troops destroyed 296 Ukrainian drones across various regions of Russia overnight on May 27-28, read the Ministry's earlier report.
The report added that the unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down over the regions of Tula, Tver, Smolensk, Ryazan, Oryol, Kursk, Kaluga, Ivanovo, Voronezh, Vladimir, Belgorod, Bryansk, and the Moscow area.
