SOCAR launches new production well at Guneshli field
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has officially commissioned a new production well at the Guneshli field, located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea.
The newly operational well #341a, which was brought online following the completion of a sidetrack, boasts a flow rate of 32 tonnes per day, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Despite facing challenges during drilling, SOCAR's team achieved a successful outcome through coordinated efforts.
Situated 120 kilometres east of Baku and 12 kilometres southeast of the offshore Oil Stones field, the Guneshli field's sea level ranges between 80 to 300 meters. To date, SOCAR has drilled 370 wells in the field, with 279 currently active. Since the start of its development, Guneshli has produced 201.3 million tonnes of oil (including condensate) and over 127 billion cubic meters of gas.
Guneshli’s peak production occurred in 1991, with 6.7 million tonnes of oil extracted from 114 active wells. The field reached its highest gas production in 2008, yielding 6.6 billion cubic meters. Currently, Guneshli is in its third development stage, managed by SOCAR's Oil and Gas Production Department 28 May Azneft.
