Transit traffic through Azerbaijan increases 3 times

In 2023, the number of transit transport through the territory of Azerbaijan by local vehicles increased 3.8 times compared to 2021 and totaled 36,387.

The Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport told Report.

AYNA noted that over the past three years, there has been a significant increase in the number of transit traffic by foreign and local trucks through Azerbaijan.

According to the information, while in 2021 Azerbaijani vehicles carried out 9,551 transit transportation through the country, in 2022 the figure was 23,366.

In 2021, foreign vehicles carried out 85,293 transit transportation through the territory of Azerbaijan, in 2022 - 176,789, and 2023 - 229,756 transit transportation. Thus, during the reporting period, the growth of transit transportation was 2.7 times.

Over the last three years, the total number of transit freight traffic through Azerbaijan by road was 94,844 in 2021, 200,155 in 2022, and 266,143 in 2023. Overall, transit freight transport by road increased 2.8 times in the last three years
