In northern Iraq, Turkish forces eliminated 11 PKK terrorists in the regions of Qandil, Asos, Gara, and Hakurk. These areas have been significant operational zones for the PKK, a Kurdish militant group. Meanwhile, in northern Syria, four PKK/YPG terrorists were neutralized within the Euphrates Shield operation zone. This region has been a focal point in Türkiye's efforts to combat Kurdish militancy and ensure border security.
The Turkish military continues its strategic campaign against terrorist threats in these areas as part of its broader counter-terrorism operations.
The PKK, a designated terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and the EU, frequently uses northern Iraq, near the Turkish border, as a base for planning attacks against Türkiye. Türkiye's wanted list categorizes suspects into five colour-coded levels: red (most wanted), blue, green, orange, and grey.
Over its nearly 40-year campaign, the PKK has been responsible for the deaths of over 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants, making it one of the most notorious terrorist organisations in the region.
