Turkish MP highlights Azerbaijan’s key role in regional stability
Member of Türkiye’s Grand National Assembly Abdulkadir Emin Önen has emphasised Azerbaijan’s crucial role in regional stability.
Önen made these remarks during the 15th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in Baku, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He stated, “The liberation of Azerbaijan’s lands from unjust occupation covering nearly 30 years and the restoration of its territorial integrity is a significant milestone not just for Azerbaijan but for the entire region. The ongoing large-scale reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories have already led to remarkable positive changes.”
Önen stressed that a fair and lasting resolution to peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia is not only important for the two nations but also for enhancing overall regional stability and prosperity.
He reiterated that Türkiye has consistently supported Azerbaijan and will continue to do so.
Commenting on Asia's rich cultural diversity, the Turkish MP acknowledged the continent as the largest and oldest home of humanity.
However, he pointed out that Asia has yet to fully reach its potential due to various ongoing challenges.
Önen emphasised the need for collective action to transform Asia’s current wealth into sustainable prosperity.
He noted that cooperation and solidarity can help achieve higher levels of development and highlighted the importance of establishing multilateral cooperation mechanisms for this purpose.
“While strengthening bilateral relations is important, multilateral cooperation holds even greater significance. It is key to long-term peace, stability, and development in the region,” he added.
The APA, which serves as an essential platform for parliamentary diplomacy, is playing an instrumental role in enhancing dialogue and cooperation between the member nations' legislative bodies. As global issues continue to evolve, the APA remains a vital space for addressing key political, economic, and social challenges facing the region.
This plenary session in Baku is expected to further solidify the APA’s influence and cooperation on pressing global matters.
