"The smuggling of immigrants led to the arrest of 13 people, including nine suspects of membership in an armed terrorist organisation and four members of the boat's crew," the statement said.
It should be noted that on the evening of July 15, 2016, the "Fethullahist Terrorist Organization" (FETÖ) launched a violent coup attempt in Türkiye, aiming to impose a radical regime under their leader, Fethullah Gülen.
Armed factions seized key locations, including the Bosphorus Bridge, while jets and helicopters bombed strategic sites such as the Parliament and presidential compound. The attack resulted in the deaths of 251 civilians and injuries to thousands. In response, Turkish citizens defended democracy, demonstrating significant resistance.
FETÖ, initially established in the late 1960s as a purported "religious movement," had infiltrated various sectors, including the military and judiciary, over decades. The failed coup highlighted their long-term, covert agenda.
Globally, awareness of FETÖ’s threat is growing. The organisation is involved in illegal activities such as visa fraud, money laundering, and arms trafficking, leading many countries to expel FETÖ members from public and private sectors.
