Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov visited the Alley of Martyrs during his working visit to Azerbaijan on June 24 and laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame monument.

Then a meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Russia was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Caliber.Az reports with reference to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry that the meeting, which began in a one-on-one format, then continued in an expanded format with the participation of delegations from both sides.

Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stressed that the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Russia is developing in many directions, and bilateral cooperation is successfully implemented. Emphasizing that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, he noted with satisfaction that a number of events have been held during the year in connection with this.

Sergei Lavrov expressed gratitude for the hospitality and mentioned the meeting with the President of Azerbaijan and the discussions held. Recalling that four meetings were held with his Azerbaijani counterpart this year, Sergei Lavrov noted that this is an indicator of the intensity of relations. He said that the 30th anniversary, celebrated this year, created a good opportunity to review relations in all directions.

The sides discussed prospects for cooperation in a number of areas on the bilateral agenda, including political, economic, trade, humanitarian, educational, and cultural spheres, as well as strengthening the bilateral legal framework.

The meeting touched upon the current situation in the region, the implementation of trilateral statements, the adoption of measures to normalize relations and ensure peace in the region, including in relation to the activities of border delimitation commissions, the unblocking of all communications, and the signing of a future peace treaty.

The Foreign Ministers signed an "Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the field of international information security."
