Moldova threatens Gazprom with suing them over decreased gas deliveries
Moldova could introduce sanctions against Russia's "Gazprom" as well as sue them in court due to them cutting down on gas deliveries.
As Caliber.Az reports, the Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister, Andrei Spînu, gave this announcement during a TV appearance on the local Pro TV channel.
"Lawyers are currently analyzing the possibility of implementing sanctions for not honouring the contract in regard to the volume of gas deliveries. Once this becomes clear, we will decide which measures to take and in which direction to move forward", Spînu said.
The Deputy Prime Minister stated, that the Russian company did not provide any explanation for their decision to decrease delivery volumes, even though all gas bills have been paid. Furthermore, the dialogue between "Moldovagaz" and "Gazprom" is being done only on a technical level, even though Spînu argues that he has sent multiple requests to the executives of the company.
The Prime Minister of the country, Natalia Gavrilița, has also touched upon the plans regarding turning to the courts, should the Russian company cut gas deliveries to Moldova. "If the deliveries of natural gas should be halted, then we will have to realize that it will be due to political and not commercial reasons, and we will certainly appeal it in the courts if this should happen".
