Turkish defence industry scores major export with three corvettes for Malaysian Navy PHOTO
Leading Turkish defence company STM will build three corvettes for the Malaysian Navy under the Littoral Mission Ship Batch-2 (LMSB2) project.
At the signing ceremony, STM CEO Ozgur Guleruz said that they are proud to sign the agreement, which will strengthen the strength of the Malaysian Navy, Caliber.Az reports, citing X page of SavunmaSanayiST.com.

"Under the guidance of our Defence Industries Directorate, we will build three ships based on the successful proven ‘Ada’ class corvette for the friendly and brotherly Royal Malaysian Navy. The construction of the ships will start this year and we will hand over all three ships to the Malaysian Navy within 3.5 years," Guleruz said.
According to the agreement, which will be concluded in a government-to-government (G2G) format, STM will become the main contractor responsible for all phases of the project, from design to implementation, from construction to delivery of ships.
Under the project, the ships will be built and equipped in Türkiye with the active participation of Turkish defence industry companies. The ships will be equipped with leading systems from around 50 domestic companies, notably ASELSAN, HAVELSAN and ROKETSAN. "The Malaysian corvettes, which will have state-of-the-art weapon systems, sensors and command systems, will serve the Malaysian Navy in a wide range of missions."
STM LMS Batch-II ship features
The ships being built under the STM prime contractor will carry the MUHAFIZ (Smash) 30mm remotely operated stabilised artillery system, CENK 3D search radar, ARES 2D ED surface radar system, Akrep ("Scorpion") fire control radar, Chaff deception system, and “own-stranger” recognition system.
The corvettes will be equipped with ROKETSAN-developed ATMACA anti-ship missiles, a combat management system (SYS) and a HAVELSAN-developed 76mm gun fire control system.
The 99.56-metre long, 2,500-tonne displacement ships will have a top speed of 26 knots, a helicopter landing pad and a capacity of 111 personnel.
