Türkiye expands pistol export markets PHOTO

One of the leading manufacturers of small arms in Türkiye, Samsun Yurt Defence (Samsun Yurt Savunma), which supplies weapons abroad under the CANIK brand, has demonstrated new arms at the Africa Aerospace and Defence (AAD 2022) in South Africa's capital Pretoria.

The African market has great importance for the company, Director of the international trade department, member of the board of directors of Samsun Yurt Defence Didem Aral said in an interview with Anadolu Agency’s correspondent.

The Canik brand, created by Samsun Yurt Defence, has proven itself all over the world, the company representative noted.

Samsun Yurt Defence is the world's fourth biggest small arms manufacturer and the US third biggest light weapons exporter, she added.

Aral noted that the fact that the company is recognised as a national pistol manufacturer in the Republic of Türkiye is important in terms of exports as this inspires the trust of customers at the first stage.

"It is very important for the company to be a manufacturer of domestic pistols in a country like Türkiye. Moreover, Samsun Yurt Defence exports weapons to 69 countries. Besides light weapons, we have become the fifth company in the world producing a 12.7 mm machine gun and its rapid-fire version according to NATO standards," she said.

Aral said that the company's engineers have made a number of innovations in the functional system of the machine gun.

"The muzzle is designed for 25,000 rounds," the company representative said.

The machine gun may be used on air, sea and land platforms thanks to UNIDEF and Unirobotics smart and customised integration solutions, which is a big advantage, she added.
