Türkiye preparing to commission Iğdır-Nakhchivan gas pipeline
Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar has said that the commissioning dates of the Iğdır-Nakhchivan gas pipeline have been announced.
According to him, work on the Iğdır-Nakhchivan pipeline is in its final stages, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
The minister added that the pipeline will be commissioned next week, and the opening ceremony will also be attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
High-ranking officials from both countries will also participate in the event.
It is noteworthy that the Iğdır-Nakhchivan pipeline will diversify the gas supply to Nakhchivan. A memorandum of understanding between Azerbaijan and Türkiye for the construction of the pipeline was signed on December 15, 2020, in Ankara.
The pipeline stretches 97.5 kilometers from Iğdır to the Sadarak district. The Azerbaijani section of the pipeline is 17.5 kilometers long, while the Turkish section is 80 kilometers. The pipeline has a capacity of 2 million cubic meters of gas per day and 730 million cubic meters per year, which will fully meet Nakhchivan's gas needs.
Potentially, the pipeline’s capacity can be increased more than twofold.
