Türkiye presents modernized Korkut self-propelled gun VIDEO
The Turkish company ASELSAN has shared new video footage of the developed Korkut anti-aircraft all-weather self-propelled gun on its Twitter page, Caliber.Az reports.
The main characteristics of Korkut self-propelled anti-aircraft gun:
-The ACV-30 tracked infantry fighting vehicle, which is a variant of the American export armoured vehicle AIFV (Armored Infantry Fighting Vehicle), is used as the chassis of this vehicle. It has a rotating uninhabited turret with two 35 mm Oerlikon automatic cannons, produced under license, a radar and an optoelectronic station for capturing targets in any weather.
-The rate of fire of twin guns is 1,100 rounds per barrel.
-Korkut can fire various types of projectiles (armour-piercing high-explosive, high-explosive-incendiary-tracer, etc.), you can switch to the one you need at the moment in 15 seconds.
-The maximum firing range is declared at 4 km.
-The vehicle’s equipment ensures hitting targets at a distance of up to 70 km.
-The machine's 600-horsepower engine is capable of reaching a speed of 65 km/h with a range of 500 km.
-The Korkut's crew consists of three men: a driver, a commander and a gunner-operator. All systems and armaments are controlled remotely and are operated in semi-automatic and automatic modes.
-The vehicle is protected by multilayer armour against bullets and mines.
-The platoon of three Korkut machines has one command and control vehicle based on the same ACV-30 chassis, but with a more powerful radar, providing communications with headquarters and target designation for cannon vehicles.
Let's compare this machine with other anti-aircraft guns of a similar class. Korkut outperforms its opponent the German Gepard in terms of rate of fire (600 rounds per minute of the Gepard versus 1,100 Korkut) but is inferior to the Russian Shilka (3,400 rounds per minute).
The Korkut clearly outperforms both opponents (the Gepard and Shilka) in terms of target detection range (of up to 18 km). And, unlike its opponents, it can swim. The unmanned turret also distinguishes the Turkish gun.
