Parliament to host hearings on return to Western Azerbaijan

Public hearings on "Youth's view on the philosophy of return to Western Azerbaijan" will be held in Azerbaijan’s Parliament on December 6, organised by the Parliamentary Committee on Youth and Sports.

The event will touch upon the issue of mass deportation of Azerbaijanis from the territory of present-day Armenia, exchange opinions on increasing the role of youth in the process of return to West Azerbaijan, study of the cultural heritage left there and other issues, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Parliament’s Public Relations and Press Department.

The hearings will be attended by MPs, representatives of the Western Azerbaijan Community, state bodies, legal scholars, researchers, representatives of youth organisations, NGOs and experts.

Founded in 1989 as the "Azerbaijan Refugee Society" and renamed the "Western Azerbaijan Community" in 2022, is engaged in the protection of the rights of Azerbaijanis who were expelled from the present-day Armenian territories that have been their historical homeland for centuries.

The expulsion of Azerbaijanis from the territory of present-day Armenia is an injustice unparalleled in history due to its political, legal and humanitarian dimensions.

In most cases, the ethnic cleansing committed against Azerbaijanis was carried out through violence, mass killings and other crimes against humanity, and gross violations of human rights with the systematic activity of state authorities.
