Ambassador: Azerbaijan has peaceful stance towards all countries, including Armenia

French broadcaster Radio J had an interview with Azerbaijan's Ambassador to France Leyla Abdullayeva.

According to Azertag, Leyla Abdullayeva answered questions about the official visit of Israeli President Isaac Herzog to Baku. In the interview, the realities of the region were touched upon. It was noted that Azerbaijan and Israel have established strategic cooperation in areas such as the economy, energy, education, high technologies, cyber security, and the humanitarian sphere.

The diplomat underlined that the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan was the first parliamentary republic in Muslim Orient. Leyla Abdullayeva talked of the military aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan, and how our country tried to solve the conflict via negotiations, but the provocations of the Armenian side made the war inevitable. Leyla Abdullayeva stressed that Azerbaijan, which liberated the territories occupied by Armenia, maintains today a peaceful position towards all countries, including Armenia itself.

Talking about the Brussels meeting, Leyla Abdullayeva said that Azerbaijan and Armenia have agreed on mutual recognition of each other's territorial integrity.

The Ambassador also spoke about energy security, which is one of the main directions of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU. She stressed that our country will increase energy exports to the EU and has great potential in the field of renewable energy.

Since 2002, Abdullayeva held diplomatic positions in various departments of Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry, in the Representations of the Republic of Azerbaijan to NATO, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Kingdom of Belgium, and the European Union. She previously worked at the Foreign Ministry as Deputy Director of the Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AIDA).

On October 4, 2018, Abdullayeva was appointed the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

On October 17, 2022, she was appointed Ambassador of Azerbaijan to France.
