Kazakh president on importance of effective interaction between EAEU, China

It is important for members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to build effective interaction with China, Kazakh Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

“It is extremely important to build effective interaction with the key political and economic partner of the union - the People's Republic of China. China is both the largest shipper and the largest customer at the same time,” Tokayev said at the plenary session of the second Eurasian Economic Forum, TASS reports.

As the Kazakh leader recalled, last week he visited China, where he launched the construction of a Kazakhstan logistics centre in the dry port of Xi'an.

Through this port, container trains will be sent to Central Asia, Europe, Türkiye and Iran.

The Eurasian Economic Union is an economic union of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia. The Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union was signed on May 29, 2014 by the leaders of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia, and came into force on January 1, 2015.
