Turkish parliament renews by 63.49%

Hundreds of new names entered Türkiye’s 28th parliament, according to the preliminary results of the May 14 elections.

Of the 600 deputies, 335 will receive mandates for the first time. The parliament will also include 46 former elected representatives of the people who sat in the parliament for the period up to the 27th convocation, Anadolu reports.

Thus, 381 legislators who were not represented in the previous composition of the supreme legislative body will sit in the new parliament.

Of the parliament members of the 27th convocation, only 219 people were re-elected. That is, the composition of the parliament was updated by 63.49 per cent.
