US praises Azerbaijan's commitment to NATO partnership
Two US officials have participated in the academic conference organised by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
US Defense Attaché Colonel Kyle Cone and US Embassy Political Officer Sonia Wettstein participated in the academic conference marking the 30th Anniversary of Azerbaijan's joining NATO’s Partnership for Peace Programme (PfP), Caliber.Az reports, citing the message of the US embassy in Azerbaijan on X.
“The US value Azerbaijan’s active role in PfP and its ongoing commitment to NATO partnership. We support Azerbaijan's progress toward PfP goals through bilateral security cooperation, including their recent participation in the Combined Training Conference in Istanbul,” the US embassy in Azerbaijan wrote.
Azerbaijan's partnership with NATO began on May 4, 1994, when national leader Heydar Aliyev signed the "Partnership for Peace" (PfP) framework document, marking the start of a fruitful collaboration.
In 1997, Azerbaijan strengthened its commitment by joining NATO's Planning and Review Process (PARP), a key initiative within the PfP programme. These actions reflected Azerbaijan's desire for deeper integration into Euro-Atlantic structures and emphasised its active role in tackling both regional and global security issues.
