Azerbaijan learning from Argentina's experience in pharmaceutical industry, digital healthcare PHOTO

A meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Argentina to Azerbaijan Mariangeles Bellusci has been held at the Azerbaijani Ministry of Health.

After welcoming the guests, Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev congratulated Bellusci on her appointment as ambassador of Argentina to Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Health told Caliber.Az.

The minister noted the importance of the mutual visits of high-level officials between the two countries for the development of relations.

Pointing to successful cooperation in many spheres, including health system and medical science, Musayev noted that there is great potential for the exchange of experience between national public health institutions.

He said that Azerbaijan and Argentina cooperate in health policy and public health at the international level - within the cooperation between the ministers of health of the World Health Organisation and the Non-Aligned Movement.

Thus, humanitarian assistance worth $300,000 was rendered to Argentina through the World Health Organisation to support the fight against COVID-19 within Azerbaijan's chairmanship in the Non-Aligned Movement in 2021.

In his speech, the minister noted that the digitalisation of the healthcare system is one of the main priorities of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Health.

“The Argentinean model of digital healthcare is leading in South America. Studying Argentina’s experience in this sphere can be useful for us,” he said.

Emphasising the successful cooperation between the two countries in the pharmaceutical industry, the minister said that currently 43 medicines from Argentina have been officially registered in Azerbaijan.

In conclusion, Musayev expressed hope for further successful development of cooperation.

In turn, Bellusci said that Argentina pays special attention to relations with Azerbaijan.

The ambassador also noted that to improve the efficiency of the healthcare system of the two countries, there are all the necessary tools for interaction in medical education.

During the conversation, which was held in the spirit of constructive dialogue and mutual understanding, the sides discussed the current cooperation between the two countries in healthcare and medical science, and the potential for its development.

New prospects for the development and strengthening of cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry were also discussed.
