Easter is one of the most ancient, important, and joyful holidays for Christians. The Day of Holy Easter – the feast of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ – this year, according to the Orthodox calendar, was celebrated on the night of April 23-24. According to tradition, on the eve of the holiday, on Thursday morning, believers bake cakes, prepare Paskha in the evening, on Saturday they carry them to church to be consecrated, and on Saturday night service is held in Christian religious churches marking the beginning of Easter and the feast of the Resurrection of Christ.
On Holy Christ's Resurrection, it is customary to gather around the Easter table, treat each other with Paskha and cakes, and greet each other with the words, "Christ is risen!"
