The swan song of a departing duet After us, the deluge?

18 January 2025 12:39

The signing of the Strategic Partnership Charter between the United States and Armenia,  which once again features the non-existent term "Nagorno-Karabakh" in one of its clauses, serves as yet another example of the destructive and hypocritical policies pursued by President Joe Biden’s administration and Secretary of State Antony Blinken. This move once again highlights how Washington officials, while preaching peace and stability, are actually focused on expanding their influence and leaving "minefields" for their successors to navigate.

It is especially symbolic that this document was signed in the final days of Antony Blinken’s tenure as Secretary of State. Clearly, the intent behind this move is to cause even greater challenges for the incoming president—and, by extension, for the interests of their own country—through the creation of crises that are cloaked in the rhetoric of "defending democracy." These crises will likely be inherited and dealt with by the next administration, led by Donald Trump, for years to come.

Unfortunately, such practices have become the norm for Biden and his team. During the four years that the Biden administration has been in the White House, the world has witnessed a series of bloody conflicts, large-scale armed uprisings, mass killings, and the transformation of millions of people into refugees. In the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and Europe—wherever Washington's influence reaches—political chaos, ruined economies, and fractured societies prevail. Too often, it has been the United States that has either triggered these conflicts or exploited them for its own interests.

The main architects of this policy have been Joe Biden and Antony Blinken. While Biden himself seems to have lost his former clarity of mind and the ability to soberly assess the situation, Blinken has diligently hidden behind the image of a "peacemaker." However, reality shows that behind the loud words lies political fraud: brazen interference in the internal affairs of other states and endless double standards, which lead to tragedies and catastrophic consequences for local populations.

Everywhere—from Ukraine to the Middle East—Biden and Blinken have contributed to the escalation of conflicts, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths and millions left homeless. No matter how American political strategists try to mask these actions with elegant rhetoric, the bloody tragedies speak for themselves.

As a result, under Biden, the reputation of the United States in the world has suffered a catastrophic decline. Whereas not long ago America claimed the role of the "leader of the free world," now it is primarily associated with chaos, aggression, and political crises in many countries. The blow to American prestige has been so severe that it will be difficult for the United States to regain trust, even with a radical shift in foreign policy.

One clear example of failure is the South Caucasus. The Biden administration and, in particular, Blinken tried to intervene in the process of resolving relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, attempting to establish themselves as the "key peacemakers." However, in reality, this intervention only pushed Baku further away from Washington. When it became clear that Blinken’s primary goal was to secure the laurels of a peacemaker and perhaps even win a Nobel Peace Prize, Washington was simply excluded from the negotiations. By the way, there are serious doubts within Armenian society as well regarding the sincerity of the U.S. actions.

At the same time, plans to destabilize Georgia and turn it into a launchpad for new military adventures also failed. The Georgian people, who had once already experienced what "Western help" truly means, did not want to become a bargaining chip in foreign geopolitical games once again.

It is important to note that Antony Blinken is a prominent representative of the so-called "Soros network"—a movement of globalists who, under the guise of promoting democracy and human rights, are undermining traditional values, erasing national identities, and sowing anarchy in various corners of the world. It is logical that the Biden administration, closely connected with such organizations, officially honours George Soros—the ideologue behind processes that bring destruction, chaos, and the mass displacement of cultural boundaries.

Despite all their ambitions, Biden and Blinken risk being remembered in history not as peacemakers or creators of a new, just order, but as the authors of countless catastrophes and crises. This is the conclusion drawn by observers and analysts today when reflecting on the work of the outgoing administration.

Now, the heavy responsibility falls on the new team of Donald Trump, which will inherit numerous "minefields": conflicts, hotspots, and dozens of international scandals. "De-mining" these fields and restoring trust in American diplomacy will require immense efforts and new approaches to international politics from Trump and subsequent administrations.

Let us conclude by returning to where we started. Blinken's final stone thrown at Azerbaijan, in the form of the mention of "Nagorno-Karabakh" in the Charter on Strategic Partnership with Armenia, has become more of a symbol of Biden's and his team's entire course: a course of provocations, hypocrisy, manipulation, and the disregard of people's interests. Time will pass, and historians may eventually provide a final assessment of this political era. But it is already clear that it will be remembered as a period of double standards, betrayal, and the unfolding chaos around the world.
