Hidden "inspiration source" of pro-Armenian campaigner Baroness Cox caught red-handed

28 February 2023 14:33

The name of Caroline Cox, infamous in Azerbaijan, has resurfaced in the media. Her old-fashioned, somewhat eccentric, and kind of baroque image, coupled with Armenian motives associated with it, embodies the whole farce, obscurity, and provincialism of the Armenian project.

Now a scandal awaits our heroine in her homeland.

The British Sky News reports that Caroline Cox has not told the House of Lords, of which she is a member, about the financing of her activities by several organisations. The amount in question is $40,000 and £8,000. According to leaked confidential documents, the Baroness received money from an American organisation run by evangelical philanthropists linked to orthodox Christian groups and campaigns against same-sex marriage. Among the documents are reports of meetings held by Cox at the Houses of Parliament with prominent critics of Islam.

It is unlikely that Islamic organisations will enter into an alliance with gay activists to protest Cox's covert and illegal activities, but each camp individually would be happy to do so. Apparently, this benefits a certain part of the English elites. Our side would do well to add fuel to the fire in order to (pardon my pun) cool down the almost Caucasian fervour of the lady.

Incidentally, Mrs. Cox's title of Baroness is not hereditary but reflects the lifetime title of peer conferred on politicians who are non-heredity members of the House of Lords. Cox became a member of the upper house of parliament back in 1982. She had no inherited property or a large bank account, but her irrepressible ambition and desire to 'catch up' with her status likely led the young politician to seek additional sources of income. The miatsum movement, gaining momentum in the mid-1980s, came along just in time.

The Armenian diaspora generously opened its wallet to the ambitious sociologist. Cox's worldview coincided with that of the investors - after all, she is a conservative Christian who opposes both liberal values and Islam. Armenians, on the other hand, are in their innermost incarnation an isolated patriarchal Christian community that is equally hostile to the liberal order and the Islamic world.

However, even all sympathy for Armenia is hard to explain in the fact that between 1989 and 2020 alone Caroline Cox (illegally) visited Karabakh a hundred times, an average of three or four times a year. Whatever the case may be, such morbid zeal in other people's affairs is most easily explained by a monetary factor.

In any case, the Baroness is one of the most active and far from disinterested defenders of Armenians. She represents a whole front of the Western establishment, ready to defend the "outpost of Christianity" in the Caucasus and working closely with the Armenian diaspora.

The problem is that the position of the church in Armenia itself is weakening year by year. This is due both to growing liberal sentiment in society and to the discrediting of the Armenian Apostolic Church itself in society due to its stagnation and corruption scandals. Pashinyan's liberal team's rise to power has only exacerbated this divide.

The Armenian project is at the "death door". Neither the British baroness nor a hundred European "resuscitators" are able to breathe life into it.

As for Cox, her efforts have always been an under-the-carpet battle against the background of strategic relations between the governments of Azerbaijan and the UK, tightly linked to hydrocarbon production, energy security, and geopolitical interests.

But we wish the Baroness a pleasant hearing in the House of Lords. We hope that these hearings will not be limited to the undeclared $40,000 and £8,000, but will become a starting point for the investigation of all Baroness Cox's previous lobbying activities, the lion's share of which is tied to protecting Armenian interests.
