28-year-long-faith Azerbaijani president brings this day closer

Today entire Azerbaijan is celebrating Victory Day. This day allowed us not to look away when we meet enemies and feel much more confident among friends.

This day, as in the famous Soviet song, is a holiday with tears in our eyes. These are tears of happiness.

We are happy to realize that after almost three decades we have finally returned the territories occupied by the enemy, that we have done what, apart from ourselves, very few people on the planet believed in.

The main heroes are those who died for the liberation of native lands, and those who sometimes attacked the enemy without weapons, and the one who for all these years did not let the enemy forget whose lands these are, who did not allow to lose faith in own strength thanks to the pragmatical politics. Of course, this is Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

To say that he is one of the creators of this Victory Day is to say nothing. He did not go into battle, he did not knock out tanks, but from the first day of his presidency, he did so much for this victory that his merits and achievements practically cover all the above-mentioned words.

President Aliyev, throughout his entire presidency, practically never let us forget about our bleeding wound - the territories occupied by Armenians.

This topic, this problem dominated all others both in domestic and foreign policy.

Each meeting with media representatives of any country began, continued, or ended with a reminder of the occupation of Azerbaijan’s lands, the occupation of the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan and the adjacent districts by Armenia.

During every meeting with foreign colleagues or high-ranking diplomats, he reminded them of the Karabakh problem, of the aggressive policy of Armenia, of almost a million Azerbaijani refugees and internally displaced people.

In every New Year's speech, for almost 20 years, Mr. President repeated like a mantra - "We will liberate our lands!" These words not only were for the internal audience, but also for those who subconsciously understood that sooner or later, what was taken from Azerbaijan would have to be returned to it.

Moreover, it was clear that the president did not just speak, he did his best to bring this day closer by annually increasing spending on the army, and on the purchase of the latest weapons.

The president brought this day closer by sending our soldiers and officers to study in the best military academies of the countries friendly to Azerbaijan. He brought this day closer by conducting military exercises in an environment similar to combat one several times a year.

President Aliyev brought this day closer, not letting schoolchildren or students forget for a day that 20 per cent of their homeland is still under the enemy’s occupation. He did his best, and when he could not, he appealed to fraternal and friendly countries for help.

The Azerbaijani leader appealed to the countries that, like us, understood that if the Azerbaijani lands cannot be returned peacefully, then they should be liberated from occupation by military means.

The president reminded the enemies of this every year, every month, every day. He reminded so often that the Armenians thought that it was "China’s final warning" and became so bold that they not only confidently walked across our lands, but also danced there.

The Armenians even offered to drink tea here and listen to mugham together. However, our president endured and was purposefully preparing the Iron Fist step by step.

At the same time, he was also fighting with internal enemies, exposed corrupt officials, lost hero generals, but did not step out of the intended path.

The day came when President Aliyev explained to the whole world how the Azerbaijani warnings differ from "China’s final warnings". He showed Pashinyans, Harutyunyans and other Armenians who is the true owner of Karabakh and the districts adjacent to it!

Now we can drink tea and listen to mugham in Shusha, Aghdam, Lachin, Hadrut and other liberated lands by coming here from any district of Azerbaijan! We can do this thanks to the heroism and courage of our sons who have become so brave thanks to pragmatism, willpower and faith in the success of their Supreme Commander!
