Armenia intends to open diplomatic missions in three countries However, its image in region, world remains unchanged
It seems that Armenia is greatly concerned about the news of the upcoming opening of the Azerbaijani embassy in Israel and has hastily announced the opening of their diplomatic missions in three countries friendly to Armenia.
While delivering a speech in the parliament during the discussion of the draft state budget for 2023, Armenian Foreign Ministry Ararat Mirzoyan suddenly stated that Armenia plans to open an embassy in Uruguay and consulates in Tabriz and Vladikavkaz in 2023.
Everything is clear with Russia. Uruguay and Iran also support Yerevan’s policy. However, it is not a coincidence that such a statement is made now.
In principle, an agreement about opening an Armenian embassy in Uruguay was reached back in August 2021, during the visit of Uruguayan Foreign Minister Francisco Bustillo to Yerevan, but this decision is still only on paper. In any case, the Armenian side was not in a hurry to do anything all this time.
It is appropriate to recall, that during the Uruguayan minister’s visit to Yerevan, the Armenians again started talking "about the rights of the people of Karabakh to self-determination and existence".
While expressing hope for Uruguay’s support for this "sensitive issue for Armenians, Acting Foreign Minister Armen Grigoryan assured Bustillo that Yerevan highly appreciates Montevideo’s "principled position" regarding the "Azerbaijani-Turkish aggression" against "NKR" in autumn 2020.

The Armenians’ aspirations for Uruguay are quite understandable. This country has one of the richest Armenian communities in South America, its recognition of the "Armenian genocide" in May 1965 testifies to it. There is even a memorial to the "victims of the Armenian genocide" near the Armenian Church in Montevideo.
There are not only Armenian religious institutions in Uruguay, but also companies, as well as the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) non-profit charitable organization, founded back in 1939.
Therefore, it is very strange that there is no Armenian embassy there. Although Montevideo during the period of the occupation of the Azerbaijani territories by Armenia declared that it did not recognize the self-proclaimed regime in Karabakh, created in the occupied Azerbaijani territories, and respected the territorial integrity of any country, it never prevented the visits of the so-called "representatives" of the separatist entity to the country and this caused Baku’s dissatisfaction.
The Azerbaijani authorities and the public were also outraged by the trip of a delegation of Uruguayan parliamentarians to Karabakh. Through its embassy in Argentina, Baku delivered a note of protest to the Uruguayan foreign ministry.
The Azerbaijani embassy in Argentina again fulfilled such a mission a few years later in 2019. It delivered a note of protest to the Uruguayan Foreign Ministry in connection with the visit of Masis Mayilyan, who positions himself as the "foreign minister" of the illegal regime.
Mayilyan participated in an event dedicated to the "Armenian genocide" in the Uruguayan parliament, which was organized by the President of the Senate, Lucia Topolansky.
Afterward, Uruguayan Foreign Minister Luis Almogaro met with the representatives of the Hai Dat Committee and Mario Nalbandian, a member of the Bureau of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun), Montevideo's policy became pro-Armenian. However, Uruguay did not dare to recognize the "NKR", although it loudly called for it.
This refers to the opening of an Armenian embassy in Montevideo. The talks have been going on for a long time, but the Uruguayan authorities, who seem to agree with Yerevan in everything, are not in a hurry to pass to the official level of relations.

As for the consulate in Tabriz, first of all, this is a response to the opening of the Iranian Consulate General in Kafan in late October 2022. This statement was made by Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
An important moment here is that both of these cities are primordially Azerbaijani ones. The only difference is that, as a result of the ethnic cleansing carried out by Armenia, no Azerbaijanis remained in Kafan, while the vast majority of the population of Tabriz are Azerbaijanis.
The opening of an Armenian diplomatic mission in a city densely populated by Azerbaijanis is not accidental. Of course, this is a demonstrative attack of Tehran and Yerevan in relation to Baku.
Baku trusts its southern neighbour less due to its eternal tricks with the occupying country. Nevertheless, Azerbaijan does not interfere in the internal affairs of Iran, as well as in the politics of its other regional neighbouring countries.
However, Baku draws the corresponding conclusions from the actions of its allies and regional partners, as well as enemies. Our historically old, but silly southern neighbour, doing everything to spoil relations with Azerbaijan, should remember this.
As for the Armenian side, its actions fit perfectly into the perverted format of the political course of the country, which has finally become entangled in its own cunning maneuvers and the search for new masters in the West or in the East, while trying to somehow annoy Azerbaijan, playing along with its enemies and causing discord in interstate relations.
Even if Armenia manages to open a dozen more embassies and consulates in different parts of the world, this will not increase its significance neither in the region nor in the world.
