Azerbaijan detains person spreading false information about “Aghdam full of mines” Statement by Prosecutor-General's Office
The Azerbaijani Prosecutor-General's Office has issued a statement on the false information spread in social networks about the alleged mines in some areas of Aghdam District (previously cleared of mines).
“The investigative bodies revealed that while filming in a mine-cleared area near Bash Garvand village of Aghdam District, 24-year-old Emin Najafzada claimed that various warning signs and unusable mines were installed there allegedly upon the instructions of the leadership of the International Eurasia Press Fund to show the mine danger in the territory,” the Prosecutor-General's Office told Caliber.Az.
“This fund has nothing to do with clearing this territory of mines and did not participate in this process. The territory was cleared of mines by the Azerbaijani state agencies, which also conduct monitoring to ensure the safety of the territory. This was done due to personal bias amid dissatisfaction (Najafzada is a former employee of the fund) and bad relations with this fund. This has no basis and does not correspond to reality; such information casts a shadow on the enormous work to clear the liberated territories of mines and unexploded ordnance to ensure the safety of the population and causes concern among people. In this regard, in accordance with Article 22 of the Law “On the Prosecutor’s Office”, Najafzada was summoned to the Tartar District prosecutor’s office and was officially warned about the inadmissibility of such actions,” the Prosecutor-General’s Office said.
