Wet dreams of self-designed "State Minister" Vardanyan Will Pashinyan be asked to leave?

26 December 2022 16:20

“I am glad that there is such interest around my persona”. Ruben Vardanyan, known in Azerbaijan as a self-designed “State Minister”, wrote on his Facebook page.

It is obvious that Vardanyan, as a bright representative of his people, does not suffer from modesty and is of a very high opinion of himself. Like any Armenian, he thinks that all thoughts of the Azerbaijani people revolve around his persona. While in fact contraceptives with beards drawn on them for 3.50 AZN a piece attract more interest than the persona of Ruben. The mentioning of the name of the Moscow smuggler has to do with the fact that he marches through Azerbaijani Karabakh unceremoniously. It so happened that 30 years of occupation of Karabakh did not pass without leaving its mark and formed a remarkable trait in the character of Azerbaijanis - the neighbouring rooster in our garden causes us to have fits of rage (since we are not French, we can afford it). And Vardanyan is perceived as the neighbour’s rooster in Azerbaijani society, which not only tramples our strawberries, but also crows from time to time. He thinks he’s doing the right thing.

“This means that I am doing everything right for the people of ‘Artsakh’ and our country”, he wrote on the social media network in anticipation of loud applause. However, the expression “our country” from a person who just recently lost his Russian citizenship and is now stateless causes concern for the citizens of Azerbaijan living in Karabakh. Obviously, such a person cannot do something right, especially for a nation, let alone a foreign country. By the way, it is possible that this is why the occupiers, who called themselves the “authorities” of the fictional state, systematically destroyed the Armenians living in Karabakh for 30 years. At the core, the separatists understood that the Armenians living on those lands had been citizens of Azerbaijan before the occupation and that the time would come when they would be restored as rightful Azerbaijani citizens again. For 30 years, tie-wearing criminals have kept the population living under inhuman conditions. Robert Kocharyan, Arkady Gukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, Arayik Harutyunyan, all these people called themselves “presidents of Artsakh”, but did nothing for “their subjects”. Even Google could not remember any of the merits of these criminals to the population. During the entire period of Karabakh’s control, all they built were military fortifications, dug battle holes and trenches. All it takes is to familiarize oneself with the footage taken after the 44-day war to see this. All the infrastructure, administrative buildings, schools, hospitals, in short basically everything had been built before the occupation, but they even managed to partially or completely destroy those. Even though they were capable of building, which can be seen from the villas belonging to the local tsars. The terrorists spent all stolen resources only on themselves, and the population lived in poverty for 30 years. From their side, it was naive to believe that the followers of the destructive “Miatsum” idea (editor’s note: the term, meaning “Unification” in Armenian, refers to the Armenian ideology of wanting to unit the Azerbaijani territory of Karabakh with the mainland of Armenia) would be capable of creating something.

Moreover, while making sweet promises and loud statements, these separatists have been ruining the fate of even those Armenians who lived in Armenia and Azerbaijan. The former lost relatives and loved ones in two Karabakh wars, while the latter lost their homes, earnings and peaceful life. Today, after decades, the random followers of the utopian and unhealthy “Miatsum” idea recognize that they have become victims of the occupational ideology and know exactly what it may lead to. However, unfortunately, there are still Armenians who blindly believe the ideologues promoting the “Great Armenia”. It is on their support that the newly arrived Vardanyan counts on, acting as a caring “father of Armenian democracy”. But as a recent rally in Khankendi showed, not everyone is ready to support Vardanyan. Maybe only by “likes” on social media.

Moreover, Vardanyan brought nothing new to the sad story of revenge. Throughout the occupational period, all of Vardanyan’s predecessors tried to force Azerbaijan to take a seat at the negotiating table together with the separatists and were each time sent off by the official Baku.

Now, Vardanyan is repeating the same thing: “It’s time to end all this. It’s time to open the road and sit down at the negotiating table with the authorities of Artsakh”. And if two years ago the idea of separatists communicating with official Baku was considered absurd, then today, after Azerbaijan has liberated its territory, this thesis has lost all its relevance. “Sighted” Armenians also understand this, seeing as the situation is quite clear.

Vardanyan is using Karabakh, as well as the people living there, as a trampoline. The seat that he wishes to jump onto is also marked – the seat of the Armenian Prime Minister. One now has to wait and see when Pashinyan gets up from his seat, as has been promised by the curators. Besides, it hurts and is indecent to sit on someone’s head. When it comes to Karabakh, its fate had been decided two years ago and Vardanyan knew about this even before his arrival. The new position as a self-designed “State Minister” was more than enough, which he probably invented while being in a vestibule on the Moscow-Yerevan train.
